Is this the quickest sample I've ever stitched? Introducing the "Four Flower Buds" Hand Embroidery Project, coming May 2024!

Here’s what subscribers to the Hopebroidery Box are stitching with me in May! The “Four Flower Buds” project will be available as a beginner-friendly kit to non-subscribers in my shop once subscribers’ boxes are in the mail. New subscribers have until the end of April to subscribe to the box in time to get this project sent to you in May.

Embroidery project featuring four sets of flowers in simple jars, stitched in shades of pink, gold, green, and dark gray on a bright green cotton fabric. Project sits on white surface, surrounded by skeins of embroidery floss, scattered needles, brown burlap bag, and a pair of long black embroidery scissors.

In today’s post, I’ll be sharing a bit about the design process, information on what supplies and instructions will be included with May’s box, and let you know how to get your hands on this project for yourself!

Designing the "Four Flower Buds" Sample Hoop

I’ve known for months I wanted to use this particular shade of fabric for the May box, and that I wanted to create a project around some sort of plant or flower theme.

The particulars of the project, however, took me much longer to figure out!

In fact, I went through several rounds of sketching and color shuffling before I even began to stitch.

Overhead photo of a surface upon which are various scattered skeins and bobbins of embroidery floss in shades of pink, yellow, blue, green, orange, and gray; two embroidery hoops with blue and bright green fabric; an opened plastic container; clips; pencils; and the edge of an ipad screen and its pencil.

I was eventually able to materialize some sort of order from the chaos above, settling on a simple quartet of colors to be used with this bright green cut of Kona cotton fabric.

Once I finalized my design, color choices, and transfer method, the process of stitching the sample itself went by fairly quickly!

Embroidery project mid-process. There is a fabric-like sticker on top of the bright green project, and a light gray outlined drawing of four flower buds have been partially covered with stitches in shades of pink, green, and gold.

And, truth be told, this was partly on purpose!

I design each and every one of my kits to be as beginner-friendly as possible; this is why I feel confident in recommending any one of my kits to the total beginner, regardless of how “difficult” the design might seem to to a non-stitcher.

But if you’re anything like me, you can’t help but imagine one project “looks” more difficult than another from time to time! Following last month’s Sun Kitten project–which looks much more difficult than it actually is, I promise!–I had hoped to design something more obviously “doable” for the total beginner.

I think it turned out pretty great! Plus, I’m happy with how quickly I was able to stitch it up–this helps me to feel even more confident in telling you the “Four Flower Buds” box would make for a great first project for brand new would-be stitchers!

What supplies and instructions are included with your kit?

The “Four Flower Buds” embroidery kit will include the supplies you need to recreate this project with me, including:

  • Full skeins of Sublime Stitching embroidery floss

  • A large cut of this bright green cotton fabric

  • Four inch bamboo embroidery hoop

  • Two embroidery needles

  • My favorite metal needle threader

  • Your pattern pre printed onto washable transfer paper

  • Embroidery scissors from Kelmscott Designs

You’ll also receive a digital pattern, which includes access to a thorough and beginner-friendly video tutorial where I take you through this project from start to finish!

The box projects and their instructions are designed for absolute and total beginners. If you do have more experience, and prefer to stitch your project without the video, you’ll be able to do so using the digital pattern itself!

If you’ve stumbled across this project after that deadline, or perhaps you aren’t interested in the subscription model itself, you can totally still stitch this with me! The “Four Flower Buds” hand embroidery project will be available as a beginner-friendly kit to non-subscribers in my shop once subscribers’ boxes are in the mail.

I'm so excited to see what you make!

The above is the graphic I included in a recent email update regarding this project in particular. If it doesn’t convince you to “act now!,” I hope it can at least make you laugh!

Happy Spring, and happy stitching!
